Tab manager

Find any tab. Instantly.

One shortcut opens a search box over everything your browser holds: open tabs, bookmarks, history, recently closed tabs and your saved workspaces. Type three letters, hit enter, you are there. Then close the forty tabs you did not need from the same list.

ArkTabs product view

The tab bar is not a filing system. It is a list of things you might need, in roughly the order you opened them, growing until you cannot tell which of the fourteen GitHub tabs is the one you wanted. Every few hours you close them all, lose the three you needed, and start again. ArkTabs replaces the tab bar as your index. Everything is in one searchable list, ordered by how often you actually go there rather than by when you found it. You find the tab, switch to it, and close everything else without leaving the search box. The whole loop is a keyboard shortcut and a few characters.

What it actually does

How it works

ArkTabs at work
  • Unified spotlight search. One search box over open tabs, bookmarks, browsing history, recently closed tabs and custom workspaces. Fuzzy, so typos still find the thing.
  • ArkRank intelligence. A ranking algorithm that learns your browsing patterns and predicts what you are reaching for. The more you use it, the better it guesses, and the higher the thing you want sits in the list.
  • Full keyboard control. Arrow keys to move, Enter to jump, Alt+X to close. Alt+L switches between your last tab and the current one, Alt+J and Alt+K walk your most-recently-used tabs.
  • Smart session restore. Closed the window by accident? The last session sits at the top of the list, one click away.
  • Memory management. Suspend inactive tabs to free RAM. They stay open and findable, they just stop costing you memory.
  • Snooze tabs. Close a tab now and have it come back later, like snoozing an alarm. Park the research, keep working.
  • Duplicate cleanup. Find and close every duplicate tab in one action.
  • Instant cleanup. Close tabs straight from the results. Focus Mode closes everything except the tab you are on.
  • Whole-site cleanup. Close every tab from a domain in one move. All fourteen YouTube tabs, gone.
  • Workspaces. Save collections of sites and launch the whole set at once.
  • Scheduled automation. Workspaces can open on a schedule, so your morning routine is already running when you sit down.
  • Automatic tab groups. Rules move new and existing tabs into colour-coded groups, so the bar stops being a wall.
The part nobody else does

The edge

  • It ranks by behaviour, not by recency. Most tab managers sort by when you opened something, which puts the tab you opened this morning above the one you use every day. ArkRank learns which tabs you return to and promotes them, so the right answer is usually first.
  • Close from the search results. You do not have to switch to a tab in order to close it. The list is a control panel, not just a launcher, so the cleanup happens in the same place you found the thing.
  • Workspaces that run themselves. Scheduled automation opens a whole set of sites at a set time. This is the feature that turns a launcher into a morning routine.
  • Memory management as a first-class feature. Suspending inactive tabs is the difference between a browser that feels fast in week three and one that does not. Most competitors leave that to the OS.
  • Who it is for

    Use cases

People with too many tabs open

The default state of doing real work. If finding the right tab has become the bottleneck, this removes it in one keystroke.

    • One shortcut searches tabs, bookmarks and history
    • Ranked by what you actually open
    • Fuzzy match, so you do not need the exact title

    Researchers

Forty sources open at once, and the ones you need back tomorrow but not today. Snooze the lot, find them again in the morning.

    • Snooze a set and collect it later
    • Workspaces group a research session
    • History search across everything

    Remote workers

RAM is the constraint. Keep twenty projects open by suspending the nineteen you are not working on right now.

    • Suspend tabs to free memory on demand
    • Memory tools show what is costing you
    • State restored when you come back

    Laptop users

A workspace for the sites you open every day, scheduled to launch on its own. You sit down and the environment is already there.

    • Workspaces open on a schedule
    • Restores your whole environment at once
    • Cleanup tools for tabs you never close

    People with routines

You open the same handful of sites every morning in the same order. That should be one action, not twelve clicks.

    • Scheduled workspaces per routine
    • Launches without touching the mouse
    • Each routine is independent
    Everything it does

    Features

    ArkRank intelligence

A ranking algorithm that learns your browsing patterns and predicts what you need. The more you use it, the smarter it gets.

    Unified spotlight search

Fuzzy search across open tabs, bookmarks, history, recently closed tabs and workspaces. Finds things even when you misspell them.

    Keyboard shortcuts

Arrows to move, Enter to jump, Alt+X to close. Alt+L for last tab, Alt+J and Alt+K to walk your most-recently-used tabs.

    Smart session restore

Closed the window by accident? The last session is at the top of the list, ready to restore.

    Memory management

Suspend inactive tabs to free RAM. They stay open and findable without costing you memory.

    Snooze tabs

Close a tab now and have it reappear later. Park the research, keep working, get it back when you need it.

    Duplicate cleanup

Find every duplicate tab and close them all in one click.

    Instant cleanup

Close tabs directly from the search results. Focus Mode closes everything except your current tab.

    Whole-site cleanup

Close every tab from one domain in a single action. Domain-level control, not just tab-level.

    Workspaces

Save collections of websites under meaningful names, like Morning Routine or Project Docs.

    One-click launch

Open every site in a workspace at once, straight from the search results. Start a session in seconds.

    Scheduled automation

Set a workspace to open automatically at a given time. Your routine is already running when you arrive.

    Auto-grouping

New and existing tabs move into their designated groups automatically, based on your rules.

    Rule-based organisation

Define your own rules. Group every search engine together, keep work domains in one colour.

    Clean interface

Groups collapse and expand, so the important tabs stay front and centre instead of drowning in noise.

    Privacy

Everything runs in your browser. Your tabs, your history and your bookmarks never leave your computer, because there is nowhere for them to go. No analytics, no telemetry, no data collection of any kind, and no accounts, because accounts exist to collect something. This is a browser extension built by a developer who would rather ship software that does not need to know who you are. If it could be phished out of your browser and read on a server, it is not in ArkTabs.

    FAQ

    Questions

What browsers does it work in?

Chromium-based browsers, installed from the Chrome Web Store. That covers Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera.

    Is it really free?

Yes. The tab manager is free with no account and no card. Plus adds advanced features and is currently free during launch on a pay-what-you-want model, so right now it costs nothing at all. Pricing changes after launch.

    Does it need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no server holding anything. Install it and press Alt+P.

Can my browsing data leave my computer?

No. There is no analytics, no telemetry and no data collection. Everything runs locally in your browser, so your tabs, history and bookmarks never go anywhere.

What does memory management actually do?

It suspends tabs you are not using, which frees the RAM they were holding while keeping them open and searchable. Your twenty open projects stop costing you a slow browser.

I use a tiling window manager. Will it work?

Yes, but Advanced Launcher Mode needs the popup told to float and centre. For i3 add floating enable and move position center for the window titled ArkTabs. For bspwm add a rule marking ArkTabs floating and centred. For awesome, add a rule with floating true and centred placement.

    Stop hunting. Start working.

Install it, press Alt+P, and type three letters. Everything you have open, everything you have saved, everything you closed by accident, in one list, ranked by what you actually use.
